Hello and welcome to the Matacus Design Contest #9 - Amusement Park
Your goal is to build the most interesting and exciting Ferris Wheel or Big Wheel as is known in the UK.
If you want to know more about the subject I suggest you to read the article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferris_wheel in Wikipidea.

The rules are simple:
- The Wheel can not be static, it should rotate.
- It has to have hanging cars or cages, bouncing freely.
- Dillo must be seated in one of the cages and he should stay there during the ride.
- You are not allowed to attach a rocket or any driving force directly to the Wheel to make it turn. You should build an engine, that eventually can be rocket driven or maybe some sort of dark force, that thru a mechanical attachment device will make the Wheel to rotate.

If so, could somebody provide a link to it for us "noobs"? I've got an excellent idea in mind, but being able to place my nodes precisely would be very useful.

Yes, you can use ARedit if you wish.

Can we place the motor that drives the wheel inside the wheel (i.e Big Ben)?

JonathanF, you can place the motor inside the wheel. I hope it will not be an obstacle for the Dillo to pass by.

JohnnyRoastbeef, I tested the AREdit link and it is working fine. Try again.

That's what I was thinking. It'd also be hard (uh, impossible?) to make a freestanding ferris wheel because of the 2 level limit (bars & sheets). In a real ferris wheel, there are 3 layers. The structure holding the wheel, the wheel itself, and the "cages" which have to hang the entire time.

They all pass each other at numerous times and so I am thinking "????"

EDIT: Dang wolter beat me... thanks wolter for clearing that up anyway... :wink:

Another stupid question, are we allowed to use an anchor at the center of the wheel? :oops: :oops:

Valid question JonathanF. You may place one or more anchors anywhere you want. No need for the Ferris to be freestanding. It is possible though, but very complicated and time demanding to build it.

For whatever reason, there was no route to the host from work, but it linked fine at home. Can anyone clue me in as to the theoretical size limits on parts within AR (i.e. without cheating)? I'd like to use this for my ferris wheel, but I don't want to accidentally create an overlong bar or something.

I just didn't want to do it because I thought it would make construction of the wheel trivial.
