ARF Contest B #8 Results

Postby PeterT » Sat Oct 07, 2006 7:26 pm

There were just 2 real solutions to this level, but they were much closer in terms of score than could be expected. Had luka used one timer less, he would have won. But this way, another medal goes to Orjan. (Whose name I can't be assed to copy/paste anymore ;))

Both of these solutions are true works of art and engineering - do yourself a favour and have a look!

[edit]
I just read that luka's solution is rated $700 too high due to the copy&paste bug. So disregard my comments above. It did seem a tad cheap for all the stuff built, especially in comparison to Orjan's...

Stoneson went for a more "direct" approach - if the level frustrated you then this is a good one to watch.

Great engineering and ideas from Orjan. I love the lower right part!

Luka's second place solution. Really a winner as well!

Muhu 8) :D

I have the next level ready. Just have to think a litle pro/contra about some additional rules I might add.

Ryo: Yes, this is a bug that has to do with the copy-paste function most likely.
But it is mentioned and counted for allready 8)

Yep. But that means the scores were actually much, MUCH closer than expected :P

Edit: I think I see how the bug works now. It doesn't take tension into account, so you get money back for that when you delete it.

Yeah, nice one. I couldn't figure this one out for the life of me. At the end there I just needed to finish the damned thing. Guess mine is by far the fastest. Any chance there'll be a speed-medal?

Hm. If the rocket-bot was strong and stable enough - the principle of the "lower right" part of the solutions could worked in all the 3 curves of the lvl. :!: And perhaps it would could have fallen down again and repeat the syclus for ever if tweaked right. Could have been an entertainment-gadget in RL, I have seen worse. :P (OK dont take it too far now)

Very nice solutions everyone!

I never got around to finishing my one because I had no hair left to tear out! :D

I never thought it would be possible to use the rocket car thing to take you along the first path, so I spent a long time trying to figure out how to somehow get the rocket car to take it back along!
