:D .

It's really hard to make predictions or bluff with this $500 posting rule but I am doing my best!

Ooooooh! I read between the lines incorrectly - my apologies.
I was confused because you said '$9000' instead of '$9000+'.

But I am still going to try it

Yes, my $500 step rule was to try and limit people from having solutions that were too similar :)

you guys just broke into the 9k+ range too quick! I'll just have to make the next level only have rubber and elastic (like one of the very first contests) to keep you all in check! :)

Well, I tried it out, but realised rather soon it would be impossible - since we aren't allowed rockets! I thought you had completed the level with a single rocket - a feat which (if completed) would have made you the updisputed God of Rockets.

On the topic though - since a rocket obviously won't get the high score, do you guys think that rockets should have been disallowed? Personally I think it encourages people to come up with more inventive solutions, rather than relying on rocket tricks to wow the crowds.

Edit: (wow I said 'Rocket' alot there)

That is an interesting problem. For so many levels of the original 50 there wasn't enough budget for rockets. Now budgets are huge, but rockets don't make it into a winning solution.

Fear of hypertensive-rocket-tweaking has shifted level design making. Unless a level demands that everyone use a rockets to solve it, it seems difficult to make a level with rocket options being on par with other methods.

Are Dark-Force solutions allowed in these contests? I can't find a set of rules. The post claims "normal" rules, and I'm not sure what those exactly are, since I am new.

thats a good point, now that there is a nifty official rules in the A forum, the 'new contest' template should be updated to include a link to this.

Never! Dark-force solutions are dirtier than Bangkok trannys. I have first attempt 5500+ clean solution.

I move that the phrase 'Bangkok Trannys' be changed to something less discriminatory :D

So with this increments of 500 rule...

Does this mean if no one can break the next plateau, there will be a tie?

ie. Player A scores 7120, Player B scores 7450 -- they are both said to have 7000?

No, the 500 increments are just for posting during the contest, not for the final ranking!

Ahh, that makes more sense. Thanks for the clarification.

Apparently my level isn't that popular. I have some solutions but the # of participants is on the low side.

However, this doesn't mean the competition isn't close :)

One more day remaining... send those solutions in if you got'm!

I think the relatively low number of entries is due to it being hard, rather than unpopular!
