Also if I have Two metal bars Overlapping forming a X, but it's not doing anything but holding something up, would that count as Dark or light?

Hi mark, welcome.
If they don't do anything and there is no node overlapping another bar I'm pretty sure it isn't dark. As far as your score, if you're going all the way trough the pyramide that's not a bad score. I think JimCDubb just chose a different path.

Welcome, Mark! We're always glad to see new players.
Actually, I did go through the pyramid. :D
By the way, rob, I've had lots of fun with this one.

As far as crossing metal bars, that is considered welding and is perfectly light, as rob said.
It's the overlapping of nodes with each other or other materials that generally causes the dark force. An indicator of the force is if materials jump unnaturally at the start of simulation.

Somewhere on this forum there is a long thread discussing the thin line between light and dark for contests, but I have not been able to find it since the first time I read it... :|

Oh well, I was just guessing as I have yet to recieve the first submission. It is definately the most fun path.

Thanks for your entry Cresta. I was hoping for one of your "swingy things" but i think i made that route just a bit too hard.

Mark, that's the way to go. Just don't use elastic and rubber. Minimize cloth and use alternatives for timers. A metal bar that is standing almost straight up that breaks something when it gets down is a perfect timer. You can also use the weight of the dillo to break something in order to trigger an action.

That's true, that way is more difficoult than the other... Well, I made one just to try, and tweaking it I realized it was cheaper than the previous solution!
