ARFC_B_117 Comp - Target - Ends (about 9/1/09)

Postby V4nKw15h » Fri Jan 02, 2009 11:50 am

Contest ends 9th January or later (until 3 participants).

It looks like the AR forums and competitions are dying. That's a shame really. I think people enjoy solving levels but the time involved in creating good ones for competitions can be too much effort. Oh well, time will tell if we can keep things alive.

Here's quite a tricky little level. It doesn't look so hard but the dillo and the portal are level which means that the weight of the ball and gravity alone is not enough to get it over there. I guess the choice is, over the top or under and back up again. Personally my POC went under but that doesn't mean it's the best way.

Happy New Year, everybody (US anyway).

Let's start it out with an uncreative 600+ L.
(Assuming posting of scores is allowed...)

It appears that nobody can get anything going underneath like V4nK :)

I'm suprised and not surprised really. I'm surprised because I just naturally went under first, because it felt cheaper, and it only took me 15 minutes to get a solution, but I'm also not surprised because it's one of those funny launchers like me and Cresta find quite natural to make.

I actually don't remember the score I got with the under solution. I get lots of time away from work at this time of year and I posted the level and created the POC for it at work. I haven't been there all week, and I'm not back until Saturday. But from memory, I'm sure it could be tweaked to beat any of the over scores I've seen so far.

If you want a clue to making an under solution, look at cresta's solution to the AR Olympics level. I remember that was quite similar to what I did.
