ARF Contest A #13 Results

Postby Bob » Sun Sep 24, 2006 7:47 pm

There were many different solutions, some used the included rocket and some didn't, and a select few did use the rocket, but none of the anchor points. The latter scored highest, with Toa at $1901, PeterT at $1919 and the winner, Orjan at $1925.

Here is a screenshot of the winnig solution:

There were also a few dark solutions, but none of them managed to score as high as the best light one.

Here are a few more pictures of interesting solutions:

Thanks to all participants and congratulations to Orjan, who managed to win both the A and the B contest this weekend. Well done :armadillo:

This was a nice level in range of solutions.

Barely any light solutions ignored the rocket, like I first did when I got over 1700. The solutions are really nice.

Liked Moss, Muppet, fruityth1ng, luka's levels - also ABC.

I got to 1709 ignoring the rocket, was promptly beaten and then gave up because I assumed using the rocket would require finesse. In most cases it did :P.

This level was really interesting in that it was almost a void level, with a rocket already slowed by cloth at the top. Very nice :).

Grats Orjan. Controlling the rocket like that was inspired and well deserved the victory.

Great contest.

:D ! I was a litle lucky this time. I had a catcher and was tweaking so mutch at the movement of the ufo that at one pint I just thought - this is going so slow through the blue sphere that i can actually just remove the catcher and it will work  I will now start stuffing with the next contest-stash!

I just took a look at the solutions and what a range of approaches :!: . Congratulations ?rjan.

I had difficulty with UFOs that keep the armadillo that low in other levels - for me they tend to start leaning one direction and never stop. On the other hand, I was attempting to move horizontally... it looks like if you just float straight up, "long" UFOs work well. I never added anything to the rocket nose, and I'm not sure how much that effects things.
