The metalbars layed in clross wtih cloth-lock is a very interesting priciple. I actually tried to use it on one of the builtin void lvl where the ball i comming from beneath, but never made the final tweak. There is potential in that principle to make cheap catchers in future contests I think.[/quote]

Yes, saves $. I thought I had the contest won with that idea. Looks like I have a lot to learn still.

p.s. I really liked n.fav's Montgolfier solution. :D

Just watched the solutions - I absolutely love Casius' Solutions!! Good work dude.

Also n.fav's rocket balloon is a masterpiece.

I want to make special mention though of Bob and Ogre, who figured out how to make the armadillo go left with just metal bar.

Yeah, simply reposition the bar controls the direction of the rubber exertion. I almost had it working with a piece of rope for $2 less, though it hit the joint of the metal bar above and deflected the ball too much off-course.

:D Thanks.
It was fun to building them to. You start with and idea and make out
somthing complete different.
The skeleton i came up with the idea off adding muscle in his arms after a while. A bit tricky to not getting him to break his own neck.

I think n.fav's "Strange machine" and "Tarzan dillo" inspired me.
They look almost "alive"

Hi there :) I've been reading these forums for a little while now... but out of curiosity mainly doesn't Toa's solution use the force? Or was that ok on competition 5? I'm not trying to stir things up, just understand the competition :)

Amazing solutions to every by the way, mine blew.

That is not the force, it's not even welding. It is an instance of "resting on", see here. I admit that the difference is not immediately obvious ;)

The test is, toa's structure would work fine in real life (real 2-D life anyway). The bars would just rest on each other, and the tension in the rope and cloth holds them in place.

Well, here's another method I actually made :P.

The seemingly weird hanging weight actually makes the whole level work. Take it off and everything breaks.

Was originally going to be called "tree" and be a sort of artistic level, but it didn't work :P.

So the brings the "fairly unique solutions" barrel to around eight, with about five being owned by Casius :P.
