Greetings all,

This was a level similar to our first A group contest level. Lots of solutions were sent in and all of the top scores used a similar tactic. The number of creative and fun solutions were impressive and I'm sure you will all enjoy them as much as I did :)

Here's our winner..... Toa!!

Congratulations Toa and everyone that submitted solutions. Well done!

Awesome once again, my two favourites were Casius' "I'll save you dillo" and n.fav's expensive level, but as always just so many unique soloutions.

OK I finally got to see the results in action! Lots of cool stuff. I really think Ogre's rail[i] and [i]low had some interesting ingredients that I will keep in the back of my mind. Great stuff, all. Hmm its too early to get to bed with a crappy face and my contest B-stuff is so perfect that it cant be tweaked... hmmm 8)

Very nice work, Toa! I see what I missed now :) I had tried to use the bottom rubber to launch a little bit, but I never got anything close to working, I guess I should've tried harder! I modified my force solution just now with the metal sheet version and got to $7802. But even if I'd figured out your one cloth trick, the best I would've managed with my best catcher looks like about $7810.

I think the only really interesting thing in "low" is actually done better in my force solution, if you're referring to the one semi-loose metal bar holding the structure up by pushing first and then pulling. The force catcher is nearly the same thing, but it's even missing one of the ropes "low" has. It's also not doing nearly as much pushing, but the little bit it does is still necessary, you cannot make that catcher work with just a rope there as far I can tell. I was surprised when I discovered that construction. Seems like every competition there's something to be learned by chopping off important looking pieces and seeing what happens anyway :)

Actually on closer inspection, maybe you're right, low might be more interesting after all, since it's actually pushing at the end, not pulling. But the force catcher still has a nearly identical construction minus the lower rope, and probably would've worked for "low" too and saved me another $6 if I'd put the time into it, it was just obvious by then I needed big changes, not little ones :)

I first managed it to launch the armadillo using a metal sheet attached to the rubber. I tried for a long time using only a metal bar, but it wouldnt work right. Then I tried a cloth just below the armadillo to slow it a bit down. Worked allright, but what I ended up with worked even better.

I guess this means I am the host of the next competition. I'll try to have a level up at around 17 CET later today.
