He didn't say he had 777 he said he had 777+. He likes 666 too.

I doubt it's dark because I got close to that without much time to tweak, but I'm guessing there is some kind of welding going on. Am I right?

You are right V4nKw15h, welding is used little bit.

I know with all those plus signs, you probably have plenty of score left, but this may be my last chance to bid on this one.
So I'll raise.

Thanks for the explanation, I did not know exactly what the minus and plus signs indicated so was a little confused with a score which should be an even number, another lesson learned.

Welding :?: Is this when two elements overlap without a join at the node so the connection slides but no dark force occurs :?:

Yes, that is welding, but dark force DOES occur in many configurations that include welding. At least that is my opinion. Many discussions have been made on the subject of whether welding creates force, and personally I am in no doubt that it can and does. The problem is that it doesn't always create force so it's incredibly difficult to make a ruling on it.

I asked if Ioncorpse had used welding because my own 760 solution only just had enough force to succeed (without welding) so I suspected some welding was being employed to create the extra force. I've included an example level that shows clearly the dark force that can be created from welding, but even in this configuration we still call it light. Why? Don't ask me, I even argued for it to be made dark. I guess it's too difficult to clearly define a difference between welding that does create force and welding that doesn't, and to ban all welding would severely limit creativity in light solutions.

Edit: Just added a second file that prevents the force from being so active, mainly for comparison. When welding tries to push a node into another object it can create very high force as shown in the "Welding Dark Force" file. But limit how much the node can penetrate and things act more naturally. But even in the second file, there is still a little force being created, yet compare the ammount of extra weight I added to the left side and the ball weight still easily tips it to the right as expected unlike the first example where dark force is clearly evident.

I also think that welding is "dark" sometimes, at least gray. Espicially in 'Cresta's paddles. But after a lot of discussions we came to agreement, that it'll be light.
I don't agree with that but Dura lex, sed lex..

Yeah, I think for the sake of allowing interesting light solutions it makes sense to say welding is light, but it clearly isn't in many situations.

Part of the skill of the experienced players comes from knowing how to manipulate this situation. I for one use welding wherever possible to keep things cheap, and finding ways to manipulate dark force doesn't end with just welding. There are situations where stretching rope can create dark force too.

I mention all this not to complain about dark force and welding but simply to highlight the situation for the newer players. I hope my couple of examples above help you to understand advanced "light" *cough* techniques.

Welcome to AR forum mi2. Always nice to see new competitors.

Stuck at 800 light. I'll try to tweak a few points but it's going to be hard...

Hi and welcome, just thought I had got the max on the dark solution. I'll see if I can match 816 but at present I am baffled how you have done that :?
