This competition could result in some solutions that are argueably dark. So I will make it quite clear right from the beginning. If you create any kind of lift due to overlapping nodes and materials it will be considered dark.

While testing this level I found it all to easy to lie a metal bar over one of the anchor nodes, in the 2 shape, and create some lift as the metal bar lifted up (out of the node) on starting the level. This type of thing will be considered dark for this competition even if the lift is very minor.

Yep, no problem ddavex, that is a light solution you sent.

Welding is fine.

I was talking specifically about placing a metal bar across (intersecting) an anchor point, so that the bar has to jump away from the anchor point when the level starts. That type of thing has been a grey area as far as "is it dark or is it light?". Well, to avoid confusion in this level, it's dark.

But don't worry about welding, that's fine and totally acceptable as always. I just expected a few "grey" solutions might come in if I didn't make a point of mentioning it. It's one of those levels that leans towards grey solutions like that.

Having tested this one a little more myself, I have a hunch that it could create many winning solutions that are the same. :(

I hate it when that happens, and I'm almost certain it will happen.

So if you think you have found the best solution, try doing it without using any metal plates and 900+ in the bank. It's more than possible but it takes some very creative thinking. If there is a tie, whoever can submit the best solution without using metal plates can host the next competition. I nearly removed metal plates from the level to force everyone to look for this solution, but decided it was too hard for A league that way.

936. Pretty simple too.

Also, very close to a 930 with no plates.

Yeah, unless someone can find a smart way to beat 936, I think this one will really be decided on the best score without the use of metal plates.

Sorry, sometimes the obvious solution isn't so obvious until it's too late. If you can get 930 to work without plates I'd be very interested to see how. That's a little better than I thought was possible.

910+ without plates.

Nowhere near 930 though. Go, Tom, go.

Did you get 936 too Jim? If so, we can say that this competition is going to be won by the best score without plates.

Unless someone can beat 936 with plates, but I don't think so.

It's a shame because it's an interesting little level until that final simple solution is found. It's not obvious but it's also untweakable once found.

I got tons of homework, so I don't have time to tweak it. I got in held in the portal for a couple seconds but it fell out.
I think 930 is impossible to tweak maybe.
I have a 920 that catches it right outside the goal, but I don't have enough time to tweak that either.
I'll post them after results are posted.
