ARFC A CXXXVI Competition - Boxed - Results

Postby V4nKw15h » Mon Dec 17, 2007 1:02 pm

Well it was a level that created some mixed opinions but it came up with some fantastically interesting solutions.

Results:

Vets Light:

1st: 4300 :lms: Cresta (Awesome solution - Very clever)
2nd: 4148 CN Player (Another great solution)
3rd: 3334 Hersmunch (Rollercoaster)

Vets Dark:

1st: 4712 :dms: FF (The score says it all)
2nd: 4568 Hersmunch (Nice)
3rd: 4397 Cresta (Don't miss this one, it's so cool)

New Player Results:

1st: 480 :lms: Beonny

I'm so pleased for Beonny. It's his first competition and he gets a medal for sheer persistance. Is this the most expensive medal winning solution ever? Total cost $4520. But you have to see it, I love it. It looks just like a traditional wooden rollercoaster.

However I must apologise to all the other new players. This one was obviously too hard to be suitable for the new A league.

Thankfully we have Cresta the master A league level designer at the helm for the next one :)

Edit: Please post your comments for the solutions and your final opinions on the level. It's good for the community and it inspires everyone to get involved if they get a mention.

Is Beony's solution made with a help of "Curve maker"? Too "clean" curves for manual making!

I toiled for hours getting that rollercoaster dead smooth, and all by eye! So pleased to win a medal...

Thanks for the level, which did amuse me after a little initial frustration.

Cheers,
Ben

I'm surprised nobody has made a comment on the craziness happening in the bottom left corner of Cresta's dark solution.

I've never seen anything quite like that before.

Do you just throw crap randomly at the level and see what happens? Hehe.

Or the way he destroyed the first flipper in his light solution. Somehow he managed to not trigger it, then hit it right on the edge, and managed to get the metal plate to give it an extra flick. You can't plan that type of thing.

This effect is well-known. It was invented by me() in my level Super heavy on the official cite...

P.S. There are a lot of patterns in AR. Experienced players like Cresta knows them all ^_^

I think someone should add pushing the dillo through objects to the ruels here: http://armadillo.metaclassofnil.com/for ... .php?t=277.

But that adds confusing if the heavy stuff is part of the level (like the recent N contest).

"It also includes having the armadillo go outside the level boundaries to fall through solid obstructions."

Not in that context.
