Newbe contest?

Postby ?rjan Flatseth » Thu Sep 21, 2006 11:30 pm

I was thinking - what if we had a contest just for people without any medals? Just try once - and see how it goes - perhaps have one every now and then?
Couldnt hurt!

I agree - although there is a big difference between 'newbies' and people with no medals!

luka1222 said he was going to host a trial one, or Maybe Peter should hook us up with one?

I think a once-a-week competition for non-medal holders is a great idea.

Good idea. I suggested a "no legend" type contest once a month, but back then less people were involved.

It was that idea that led me to this. I think no legend contest would be a litle unfair to the legends. If it gets inflation to the legendstatus there is not so muthc point in those carrots. If only no medal people could join it would not be a "threat" in the hiearchy as once someone got their first medal - they have to compete with the rest.

Then the only problem would be if you ran out of people with no medals. Perhaps these "C" contests would be run as needed, or based on people signing up to start a contest.

Thats exactly what I had in mind! I think there is enough people without medal now to give it a try - and have one every now and then when needed or wanted! Ive sent you my solutions btw

see i was going to host one i wek or so ago, but since then i have had time to think and to be honest i dont want it anymore. having a newbie only contest is jus an easy way for many people to gain a medal faster just to make themselves me included feel better. i have changed my mind , you learn so much from being in such a competative environment , im sure it was some chess master who said you only improve your game by playing someone better than you, so for now evan if there was a newbie comp i would not compete in it.
of all the things ive lost i miss my mind the most.

Taking a line from Mel Brooks film Blazzing Saddles ...

"Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!"

As a non medal winner also, I really don't mind not winning and would not be keen to see a noobie comp. I agree with Luka1222.

 You could do a 3 newbie medals = one big medal. Then you are not eligible for the newbie comp once this goal has been reached .New members are a must and a little hope goes a long way for some people its nice to be a winner once in a while.Just throwing ideas out there.

Does not sound like a bad idea - but I think I sense the interest is not that big after all! Dont quite know.
