I know it becomes hard to have lots of groups for every medal combination - but this means that once you get 3 medals, it's game over!

I think instead of having a medal tally, we should have a rank based on the number of medals you have earned. This would mean that Contest legends still had goals to aim for.

Just an example:

1-2 Medals - Contest veteran
3-9 Medals - Contest Legend
10+ Medals - Armadillo Lord
15+ Light Medals - Ultimate Light Master
15+ Dark Medals - Ultimate Dark Master
15+ Light and 15+ Dark Medals - Armadillo God


(of course the boundaries, titles, and number of ranks can be altered! to suit)

That would be possible, but it's a lot of work . If I had expected how long this would go on I would have planned differently from the beginning.

It would really help if someone could do a tally of all current medal owners and their medals. I would sticky the thread here and keep it up to date. Then we could think about an alternate, more forward-looking ranking system like the one you proposed.

I'm happy to make one of those!

I'm ready to implement it, what do you all think of the suggested ranks and medal requirements? Personally I believe they may be a bit high, but then again it's nice to have something to look forward to.

My opinion (at the moment ):

Remove "Ultimate". "Light Master" sounds cool enough... Put in some more titles in between the other ones (if that doesn't create too much work for our esteemed admins).

0 Medals - Contest vegetarian! As in, I distain from contests (j/k )

I don't think you should do more titles, I like this setup. Except for the last one, I don't think you should have people get 15 light and 15 dark medals. Some people just don't like making dark solutions. Maybe a better option is
25+ Medals (all combined) - Armadeus

only problem is that this is allot of work for peter to keep up with changing everyones title week in week out

Maybe that burden should be delegated elsewhere? *cough*

If you have won a number of contests, and it's time to change your medal, you should send a pm. then once a week or something, he can do multiple at once. That way the burden is less. There's not that many medals per week.

I like the idea of removing 'Ultimate' for light and dark masters - perhaps we should have 'Light Jedi' and 'Dark Jedi' instead?

I agree less people submit dark solutions, but maybe that would change if there was a groovy title to aim for. Maybe we should make it 10+ Dark Solutions instead of 15? (since there are more light than dark medals awarded)

Also, I really like the idea of 'Armadeus' being the ultimate name. However I think to be a true master of armadillo run, one needs to understand both the light and dark sides.


Hmmmm..... maybe we should just have a ranking which didn't distinguish between light and Dark medals.

Then, we could have a 'supplimentary' system where the most recent B contest winner gets 'Lord' in front of their username, and the most recent Dark medal winner (any contest) gets 'Dark' in front of their username. If you had both, you would be 'Dark Lord'! The idea of being Dark dudiobugtron for a week would definitely motivate me to submit more dark solutions!

Regarding the updating stuff:
Once we finalize this (hopefully final ) system, I will write a script that will parse the medal tally thread and update the database (ie. ranks and medals) automatically. I'll then cron that to run every midnight. All moderators can edit the medal tally, and I could add some more mods if needed to keep up. With all this in place keeping everything in sync and up to date should only require minimal effort.

I could even have the script auto-generate the medal tally from just the list of contests and winners in that thread.

If you could do that that would be awesome! Updating the medal tally is a much more daunting task than just adding a winner to a list.

Would it be easy to make it so that people's medal tallies were viewable in their profiles?
