That's something for Peter to decide on I think. It's just something I noticed with last few contests.

It's not necessarily a bad thing either. I don't want to clutter our contest thread with too many posts on ideas for future contest rules so I'll just say one thing here...

Perhaps it would be fun to try a "black out" type one and see if everyone likes it. Black out meaning you shouldn't post any scores until after the contest ends.

Could probably use it's own thread.

If you look back at the beginning of the first contest thread, you'll see that I was actually not allowing score posting in the very first set of rules - or rather, you'll be able to deduce that from the discussion. However, I was quickly convinced that it would make for a much more interesting time here on the forum if posting scores were allowed.

I still think that's true today, though it's also clear that it somewhat reduces the number of different approaches that are submitted. It's not easy to decide, just like the A/B thing. (BTW, I know that I said I'd post a thread about all this yesterday

My 2862 won't win if your at 2864

I don't have the "secret" GPE sling to spring on you guys this time around.

I think that 2868 is max possible ignoring any force solutions.

So, how long is there between contests?

It varies from contest to contest, but usually they last 3 days I think.

That's a good question, something that Peter is working on I think. So far time between contests seems to vary, from less than a day to several days, and contests have run 3 days to up to a week long.

I acheived $2862 now. I see that $2864 is likely possible with a lot of tweaking.
