Yeah, I couldn't get it to work with only one piece of two-inch string and a metal plate either, but I'm sure it'll win if I could just make it work.

I'm sure my solution will be competitive, but if Bob has two different solutions in that range, I'm probably not going to win. I couldn't come up with any radically different solutions within even $50 of the one I submitted. It did take me hours to get to that one, and I didn't spend hours on any of the alternates, but none of them looked very promising either.
