AR WCH?

Hello dudes,

I am worried with one problem that we all are facing at last time. I'm catching myself on thought that today's contest system is getting less interest. How can you explain the last B contests' results, that are having only few entries every time? Maybe, people just don't like tweaky/chaotic levels? But results of some contests proof another! I remember the first hosted by me A contest - Monster Truck; there were 27 entries! The N contest #1 is tweaky enough too, but there are more than 20 entries. Otherwise, the C contest #1 by Snowlord was very cool and interesting (IMO, of course), but that was stunning for me to see the only entry there. Why? People don't want to play complex contests that need a lot of time? So, how about holidays? I never seen the contest that requied more than 5-6 hours of tweaking...

I've got idea. It was taken from the principles of realization many sports' contests. I propose to carry out 4 AR Contest seasons per year, each from them is fully independent from others. Each season starts with empty medal tally. The person, who leads the tally at the end of season, becomes the Season Cup winner. Also, I think it will be good to make AR WCH at the end of each season. AR WCH is the level set of 10 levels (some of them can have special rules), which must be solved for 2 weeks. The volunteer from contestants becomes the host of AR WCH.

This all must raise the interest of contests and make them more popular (especially B League). Of course, providing this must be very well discussed and requires bless from PeterT :D

I'll be happy to read your thoughts! Thanks for your attention :D

Hey Nick,

I can tell you, when it comes to me, that when I don't have time I don't work on competitions, it doesn't have a lot to do with the levels being chaotic when it comes to me...

About your N contest, I've submitted 9 entries    I think that's why there are so many....;)

Another thing is a whole season is lots of time, and I do not know if it's good to have the winner announced once per 4 months... People like their medals permanent and get them as soon as possible... ;) I know it would have made me sad if I lost my medals... (There are so few of them, better win some more competitions).

I think another problem is when people share scores, IMO.

I know that when somebody posts a score I can't understand how to reach, I just don't even submit to the contest, because I know I'm going to lose.

I'm sure a lot of people face the same problem.

The idea of AR Seasons doesn't contains in removing current contest system with immediate medal awarding. It just adding stimulus to win the whole Season or become AR World Champion (whoopie! ;) ). Also, it's almost impossible for today's newbies to reach the top of current medal tally. The only way is to clear it sometimes (like classic World Cup in many sports).

That isn't right IMO. The contests become much funnier when there are a lot of entries. As for me, it's very interesting to see other clever ideas of level solutions, even when they are not so cheap as the winning solution. Always submit your entries, guys! That makes everything here more exciting :D

I agree! I don't know how many times I have withheld my solutions because I knew I could not win.

ETIT! I agree about the not posting scores during contest! The medal is our private property and will and can not be removed as stars can not be removed from the sky.

personally i like the idea, but i dont want my medals that i worked so hard to get taken away each season, i like the current ranking system. i think the idea is ok but i just think we are all trying to do to much with this at the moment we only just started the n and c comps, maybe we should let the dust settle for them for a little while, haveing to much can be off putting too,

Nick, about what you said with the submissions to your N contest, everyone wants to be the first N winner ;)

The first N level is tweaky. I just said about it for example as tweaky level with lots-o-submissions :)

I agree with all these points, but I think the posting scores and all the rules should not be changed because who know weather or not it will increase participation.

The only idea I can think of that might increase participation, is a 'participation medal'. Awarded for everyone for every solution they submit.

Or you can make it 'participation points'.

1 point for N league participation
2 points for A
2 points for C
3 points for B
5 points for design contest?

sure why not? C is a weekly contest though right? And matacus is only 1 contest for a MONTH.
