Where do we get the new version 1.03?

Postby DJC » Wed Oct 04, 2006 3:06 pm

I can't see a download link on the main page.

Quoting from my post in feature request thread:
In case anyone is wondering: you can get the new version by going here:
http://www.armadillorun.com/buy/registration.php
and entering your current registration code. (Found this in the FAQ)

Ah, sorry. I just couldn't see an upgrade link. The FAQ explains everything.

Thanks.

What I don't like about the new version is that the mouse funtion you selected stays with you when you come out of a level and go back in (e.g. to save or try a different level). I liked that it always reset back to Create New Links.

Also - is there something weird about saving levels? I've been editing some new levels and when I save my amendments sometimes it asks me if I want to overwrite and sometimes it doesn't.

Right - I think it only asks if I want to overwrite when I edit one level and change its name to one that already exists.

It sounds a bit buggy.

There are two prompts - the 'save level?' one and the 'overwrite level?' one. I removed the overwrite prompt when saving over the top of the same level, since it seems like a common operation and clicking twice is a little tedious. I kept it when overwriting a different level though - I thought this might prevent accidents.

OK it's not a bug then, but if I create a level, save it as xxx.lvl and then edit it intending to create a new level (move the portal or whatever) intending to save as xxx1.lvl but forget to change the name, it just saves over xxx.lvl with warning me. It's my responsibility and it's it's the age old MS-OS argument of "Are you sure?" but I think it was a bit safer the old way.

BTW amazing to get a reply from you!!

Fantastic programming.

That's a good point - maybe I should change it back, or add another option to set the behaviour?

It really starts getting bogged down with other options.

No, I guess it's just about getting used to the way it works now.

Users are much more stupid than programmers and user-intuitive really means getting us to sign in triplicate that it is OK to save.

This minor irritation compared to the amazing advancement of cut-paste, rotate objects, etc. really is nothing.

Also, when you save (deliberately over the top of the same thing as when tweaking) it doesn't go back to the menu and then come into the level at 100% zoom. It comes back into the level as you left it. That'll take some getting used to.

You're joking?

There's a ton more editing facilities and the save procedures are siginificantly different.

It's a major upgrade that I would've paid 50% of the original price for.

If Microsoft implemented this kind of change you'd have to pay around $300 for it.

Do you have the latest version or not?
Obviously there's no new material, but the upgrades are well worth it.
