Recent administrative changes & outage apology

Postby PeterT » Sun Aug 09, 2009 9:41 pm

Hi everyone.

To deal with the recent spam problem I implemented a number of changes:
  • Peter Stock (creator of AR) is now a forum administrator, and can add new moderators or ban users (or even give moderators the power to ban users).
  • I made the registration CAPTCHA harder to hopefully deter spam bots.
  • I also upgraded the board software to the latest version (3.0.5).

The upgrade (paired with a database software upgrade from my hosting provider) messed with some functions of the board -- most importantly, posting new threads -- but that should be sorted out now. If you encounter any further problems please reply about them here or PM me.

Sorry for the trouble,
Peter T

This is great news! Sadly I can't do more than say thank you, PeterT and Peter Stock, for doing this great job - maintaining and keeping the forum alive just for our entertainment. Hopefully new users will join, as the problem with spammers is solved.

Thanks a lot for the hard work. I do hope we will see some new (or old) players soon as it would be a shame if the competitions die.
