AR Book Published

Postby kingofthespill » Fri Jun 22, 2007 9:01 am

I finally have finished the AR book! Thanks again to Peter Stock, dudiobugtron, and Dark Catalyst for the help and feedback.

The title is Secrets of the Armadillo Run Masters. I am publishing this through lulu.com where you can see a preview, and I have a blog up as well. It is a short book at 55 pages, but dense with relevant information. I hope fans of AR thoroughly enjoy it :D.

:) Thanks.

If anyone is interested I can investigate setting up a black-and-white edition, and that would be approximately half the cost.

Oh no, thanks Kingofthespill :) I don't think that a lot of people need grayscale book edition. I'll try to save much money for coloured one

I have seen images from the book in greyscale, and most of the pictures look O.K..

I have updated the training levels post with material from the book.

About playing AR: Maybe a little, but typing and mousing are kind of irritating. I have been in slow recovery from nerve problems in my forearms and lower legs, and I am a bit better than last year.

The book was created with voice using Dragon Dictate running on Windows 98.

Even if I had full recovery, I am about to start summer term studying electrical engineering, so I probably will have little time  . Every now and then I look at the contests, and the competition seems intense.
 :)

looks like you focus alot on the physics aspect of the game from the preview.

Looks interesting!

Is there any option ordering the book directly from you? It is a problem for me to use a credit card and I prefer using other paying methods.

I think the only time i've used my actual physics knowledge in AR was with rotational inertia to make a better balanced catcher. Interesting idea though

Oh, wow, I need to check this thread more often.

> gamma57
Yes, just in the beginning. I thought that the serious AR book needed to include a physics reference.

>JonathanF
Sure - let me check into it and pm you.

>Ikerous
Rotational inertia AR is still a bit tricky for me, chiefly because of destruction. It is unfortunate that there are no materials that would allow players to build huge, quickly spinning structures.

Anyone bought the book? I'd like to see some comments. Is it good?

To become an AR Master, of course!

Anyway, I read through the first 10 pages and now want to buy it. It's $18 US. How much is it elsewhere?

Apparently I'm a retard.

Where can I read the first 10 pages?

EDIT

Found it when I really needed it :P

OH WOW!
Is that my construction on the cover? I think it was for one of the very early rubber-only contests :D

Also, sorry for not giving any draft feedback, I see it still turned out well
