I don't know if I am in a position to make a ruling on this, but my personal opinion is that you shouldn't be able to compete in the competition unless you have a paid version of AR!!!

Two reasons. First, my personal opinion is that Software Piracy is pretty selfish/etc when you do it from some independant software developer. The game doesn't cost much to buy, and it does cost Peter Stock money to host the website and have people download his game - not to mention all the work he put in to it to begin with (and the patches etc...)

Second, is that the forum is only alive thanks to Peter Stock's game, and also thanks to the link he has from his homepage. The forum should certainly not be encouraging piracy etc... if it wants to keep it's semi-official status.

Peter Stock put heaps of effort into making it, and I think we should be encouraging him to keep making more cool games (and perhaps an AR2? ;) ) rather than just stealing his IP.

I'm on the fence on this one. I've paid for too many independantly developed software titles only to find out "Oh, we're not supporting that anymore, sorry! Want to buy the New Version? It's just $19.99 for previous customers, that's a whopping $5 savings!" a month later...
If we had some guarantee that we faithful armadillos will get a free pass into the next version, I'd be solidly on one side...I'm hard to budge onto the other side, there aren't many circumstances in which I'd be cool with someone kiping my game. Maybe if I was 20 years dead.

I just want to quickly point out that everyone who's bought the game will continue to have (free) access to all future updated versions - the link in your registration email will take you to the download/registration page where you will be able to download the current release.

yes, that's the reason now I still play with ver.1.03.
This tool was built earlier than the new version.
