My solution was just to have a long bit of cloth that wraps aroun the armadillo and attaches to a weight at the top, with a timer to cut it off. The armadillo is just wedged though the guillotine by the force of the weight. I needed a small bit of metal though to act as 'armour' to stop the guillotine breaking the cloth.
I did a similer deal but didn't bother stopping the guillotine, it doesn't break the cloth. the force of the weight pushes the metal slider back up timer breaks the rope attached to the cloth and weight so the structure doesn't get totalled.
