Level 23 - Your Solutions

I'm having a great time playing the full AR game! I've run across one very hard level for me though.

That's level 23. I just can't seem to come up with a solution that works. Rockets are to slow and going over the top of the drop down seems very difficult to setup.

I've thought of using tension to sling the armadilo into the place, but rope isnt strong enough, and elastic is to expensive! So what is everyones solution to this level!

One easy method is just not allowing the Guillotine to fall by obstructing it.
Another way would be to shoot the Armadillo over it. Poor little guy :armadillo:
In fact, using the latter method, the level is solvable with a single piece of rubber. ($1300 remaining)

I know for a fact that elastic also works tough, as I used that in my very first (quite expensive) solution.

I tried shooting it before, I just couldnt get the right position. After carefully looking at the $1300 solution on the official site I was able to get it just right. Took awhile, but its a very nice way of doing it.

I was so happy I could get to $1100 with 2 rubbers... didn't think of using just one... :(

Me too, actually I even posted it on the official site ;)

Oh well, simple is beautiful they say :armadillo:

It's a shame that the "fun" solutions are often more expensive than a piece of rubber, but here's a way to do it with rockets :

Welcome squint!

I agree that for some levels, the cheapest solutions are not very interesting ones. That's one reason why I like the "Void" levels, as there is still a lot of variety possible even among the cheap solutions. Still, when trying to break a record you normally don't get to use most of the materials, which is a shame.

Perhaps some more user-made maps which don't allow rubber need to be made...

(Hmpf, now I take the threads in my own forum off-topic ;))

I did this level with no rockets and no rubber the first time through :)

I obstructed the guillotine and then used an obscene amount of cloth and some weights to drag our little friend into the circle area. I then used two timers to break the cloth on the weighted end and drop the guillotine to block the return path.

Not overly cheap :)

How on earth do you do it with one piece of rubber? That totally baffles me! :D

My solution was just to have a long bit of cloth that wraps aroun the armadillo and attaches to a weight at the top, with a timer to cut it off. The armadillo is just wedged though the guillotine by the force of the weight. I needed a small bit of metal though to act as 'armour' to stop the guillotine breaking the cloth.

hmmm

you can do the pulley solution without any timers... attach a piece of rope or a metal bar to the cloth, and it causes it to get stuck when it tries to pull through the guillotine supports.

The video was from a program called "fraps"

I just used a bit of cloth to slow the descent of the guillotine and then used a rocket to push it up. When the rocket got to the top it flew off the edge and by then the guillotine had fallen back down. Worked pretty well.

Here's my solution, it involves a rocket and a metal bar with a timer on it.
