making a horizontial firing 'dillo cannon?

Postby smjjames » Fri Sep 07, 2007 7:13 pm

I want to try an idea I have, but I'm not sure how to make a proper working horizontially firing cannon. I'm having some trouble making the rubber trampoline/launcher kind of thing, but what I want is something that will make the 'dillo go at high speeds.

Most of the cannons I've seen are vertical, but I'm not sure where to find a good example of a horizontial cannon.

edit: here is my attempt at a dillo cannon, but I want it to make the dillo go faster. I'm trying to do an experiment and see whether the dillo can go through a solid wall or break it or something. It's probably been done, but I'm just experimenting for myself.

I'm in the "can't make bumpers well" boat too.

 s:
I wouldn't use that type of cannon. Use the ones that vibrate (or whatever it is they do).

Just copy paste the lowest bumper from the community pinball level found in the general forum.

Or grab one of the kind you used and just... rotate it!! tab-select all the materials in it and shift-click-drag to rotate.

I've seen some pretty fast/powerful vertical ones, but I'm trying to make a powerful horizontial one.

I'll check out the stuff in the pinball thread.

I have nice horizontal jackhammer cannon, but it is dark.

doesn't really matter to me whether its light or dark though.

Also, Drago, what do you mean by the ones that just vibrate?

I'll probably also look at that dillo launchers thread or something in design competition. Should be some ideas in there.

Yeah the ones that just vibrate can pop the dillo a good one and I was refering to that type in the pinball level. For the "one time use" (the ones with massive amounts of tension), I recommend the "MadS tennis" level. That one has 2 massive launchers that dont do the vibration trick.
