I've been playing around with Mathias' hoverball to find a design which doesn't require the rubber to be overlapped at the offset (meaning it can be done with any level, not just in the designer). At $1800 it isn't exactly cheap, but the design below is relatively stable and can actually overcome gravity.
Anyone have any other ideas? My process has been completely trial and error to this point.
