Does it matter if it's light or dark?

Ok, I looked at your solution and spent 5 min to improve it..
What I can suggest you is this: if you want to use that kind of method (pulley with cotton) you can change these things:

- The wheel could be cheaper: Less faces, spokes made with metal bars instead of metal plates
480 $ --> 180 $

- the weight attached to the cloth could be with metal bars (2 of them are a little heavier than 1 metal plate) and a little less..
360 $ --> 200 $

- Cloth shorter!
608 $ --> 508 $

- No timers!
400 $ --> 0 $

- The structure on the ramp is exaggerated..
340 $ --> 30 $

- To keep the dillo in the portal you don't need that system of bars and plate, but just a piece of cloth
70 $ --> 12 $

- The cathcer that lift the dillo could be tinier
108 $ --> 40 $

Then you should have 1530 $ instead of 134 $ left!! :D
But I assure that there are even cheaper methods!
Mine for example is dark, I'll attach it with your improved solution..

Hope this to be useful for you!
