As so often happens when I've almost given up I have another idea and it works, broke the plate and without any Dark force .

Still only 869 so a touch more work to do

As I can now see how to break the plate without use of any bugs my previous statement should be completely ignored

I have not worked that hard on a solution for a long time, once I had broken the plate I had a mind blowing time getting a cheap catch for a competitive score.

I don't have a cheap way to break this THING.
Probably there isn't...not sure that I'll try to get more. Pure random demolution + absolutely obvious catcher.

Sorry that the contest isn't to your liking, Ioncorpse. I tried testing this solution but honestly a lot of the methods that have been submitted simply did not occur to me! I hope you can take joy in the fact you've outsmarted me, at least.
