I have a POC with 1980, but it is on work-computer.
So, only 1790 (as a check of possibility of the decision)
I'm lazy to tweak it again)))

Very entertaining and varied solutions. :D

I was mucking about with a piece of cloth instead of the second plate, and found four places where it almost achieved the perfect "balance on top" needed. But that was only for 1968.

And, darnit, I was thinking today that maybe the first plate shouldn't be "full length", as proved the case in Alex's masterpiece.
But, my neighbour was moving house, and I ended up spending ten hours helping him, instead of trying out the idea. Sooooo close..... :(

Congrats to Alex for his inter-pixel tuning of the 1980 solution. At least he proved it could be done. :lms:

I also was amazed by Arunion's "plate on a rope" solution. I spent a long time hoping that one of my tweaks would have the incoming dillo balance on top of the first. And then it turns out, there were so many ways to do it.

First impressions of this challenge being "too simple" were absolutely not true.

I was pretty much just lucky that the rope and plate worked. I tried tweaking an earlier solution, but I basically had to start over each time because all the small increases in scores from removing material never worked. ^^

Nicely done guys :D

That is my final POC.
I take it today from work-comp)
May be the plate is a bit shorter than "full length", but I made it in order that there was a possibility of tuning.
