Edit I'm also done ,I'm at -22 of what I would guess is the theoretical maximum

WOW. Looks like you found a cheapish, easyish way to do it after all.

I have no idea what the theoretical maximum is. So I have no idea how good my actual solution is. :?
But it is good enough to say:

1910+ :D

Im now at -18 from my theoretical maximum ,but I've had a rethink and now I think I am only at -6 from it :? 8)1925.5+

Once again, thought I might have a half decent solution... but once again, looks like I'm outclassed.

Last update from me as I have reached my theoretical maximum 1931.5+

I can't improve on that bid. But I could "tie" it.... :?

I'm wondering if we have the same solution. Although, knowing what mine looks like, it seems extremely unlikely. Also, I couldn't tell about a "theoretical maximum", because mine came about via serendipity, rather than design.

I'm going to have another look to see if I can squeeze something out of it......

well I'm going to go out on a limb and say I have a perfect score that can only be matched

Damn, just when I thought I could say 1932+!
I know my method could be improved, but I haven't managed to do it...

well I haven't got the perfect solution lol well done 1950 for me ,don't know how you managed stage 1 :D .I thought it might be possible without stage 1 but then changed my mind ,out of time now :)

It's beginning to look like Rob and Mark_man (and maybe Andrew&Tim) have deliberately built the thing that I found by accident, and done a better job because of it.

I'm at 1932, and not found any improvement, because I'm stabbing in the dark. I know what I need to happen, but don't know how to cause it. So, I'll concede here, and say Well Done, Chaps.

PS: Peter Stock has amended the moderator accounts (decMod should now be a moderator too, while my moderator status has been moved to bytheMod) and has given me all of the admin powers he has. I'll start having a look at what's possible, and hope I don't break anything.
I'll wait until after the results are posted before attempting any deletions - because it might tie things up for a while....

Hi Everyone,

This is the Evil Overlord version of bythelee  mwah-ha-haaaa.

Peter Stock has given me the admin powers needed to start dealing with the spam mountain.

But I'm a little wary of attempting to rub out some of the bigger spammers (one has 23,000+ posts waiting in the queue) at times when we're trying to use the forum (like the upcoming competition end and results posting) so I'll stick to smaller things for now, and start a forum backup (if I can find it) in the meantime.
The Admin Control Panel is a really scary place, where it's very easy to click the wrong button and break everything forever.

I hope nothing bad is going to happen, but if the forum does have hiccups, please do keep trying to connect. If I do break it, I'll contact Peter Thoman immediately about fixing it. I'll also email Peter Stock to post something on the Armadillorun.com website, and (assuming I get the backup done) will contact Andrew about his offer to host a new forum as a last resort.

At least from here, there is a visible light at the end of the tunnel. :D

DecMod has also been given moderator powers, although quite frankly the chalk-and-cheese nature of what's possible, means that moderators are really only useful for approving new user posts now.
