Oh boy, a new spammer who's permanently online is adding four posts at a time to every thread, every few hours. Hoping to get that banhammer quickly...

Meantime, this challenge is not unlike something I'd been trying to develop myself as a challenge. Perhaps that gives me an unfair advantage?

figured when two people say all done that early there must be a very cheap easyish way so saved a bit of time and bumped it. I'm at 1750ish around 100 off the mark at a guess.

Rob seems to have a knack of homing in on a brilliant solution within 5 minutes. So him saying he's "done" immediately is par for his course. He usually still manages to improve a bit when he says that with my challenges, though.

Me, well, I had been trying to build a similar-ish challenge myself for some time, so have an advantage there.
Plus, there was a challenge a while back that gave me a great headstart. Pinball, I think it was called. By KuzyaHG. It might be too much to be giving away such hints, but my best solution beats whatever you could learn from that one.

Because, I caught a lucky break with a second concept that worked unexpectedly well, and I don't think I can improve it, because every aspect I analysed appeared to already be "perfection". Hence, I think I'm done. I did complete a third early concept too, but it wasn't competitive. Still fun to finish it, though.

I won't comment on how close you are to my best score though. That would be telling too much. But I will say:

WOW. Looks like you found a cheapish, easyish way to do it after all.

I have no idea what the theoretical maximum is. So I have no idea how good my actual solution is.
But it is good enough to say:
