I hear what you are saying, and completely agree. A League levels have been getting much too complex lately, and I am partly to blame. This one, with triple dillos and tweaky bounces, is beyond even my patience. I found an incredibly lucky random bounce to give me a score of $1685, and haven't even bothered touching it since. It's too big.

Your suggestion of limiting A League to single-dillo levels sounds very good to me. I'll stick to that in all future contests I host. In addition, I think it would be wise to focus the action of the level on only one or two constructions. Rush Hour (my level) was a great example of how even a single-dillo level can be too much if it is overly complex. I think a return to AR roots might be in order. Finding fresh new twists on simple thrower+catcher combos or "fix the bridge" scenarios might be the ticket. Especially if we can find ways to highlight the recent changes to the physics engine.

I think I'll start working on my next A league Level now. I'd like to have a really polished example of what I have in mind to show off the next time I win.

I too agree that complexity of level in League A should be lowered.I also consider that in league it should not be used more than two :armadillo: :armadillo: dillos or two from several :D

I agree with everything being said. I was following the general trend for harder levels in this league when I made this one. Time for a 'U' turn to get back to easier levels for this league. Perhaps restricting levels to just one Dillo would be a step in the right direction.

Andrew, I have not had your submission as yet, don't forget :D .

Rob, I guess all your time has gone in to that mind blowing 'Unpossible' are you working on this one?

Scores have already hit a peak, I'm thinking I could end this one Saturday night, but only if everyone agrees :D

FWIW - Newbie Comments.
You are the Experts - You should choose the Rules for Each "League"
IMHO - Decide the rules - Publish and stick to them.

Mark shouldn't be 'villified' for this level.
Should it be "B-League" ? - Not, in my opinion, if we are comparing "AR1" with "UnpossibleLite"
These are 2 great levels - each designed and pitched at the right level.
OK! Add a Dillo count or Run-Time limit for any level.
But its your world. You choose. Just let everyone know what is expected of them.

BTW - Newbie retires at 1577 ish

The Rules for each League should be agreed upon by POLL
I can't create one here - and its correct that this subject should be taken off this topic.

I'll be happy, as a Newbie and 'fairly impartial', to add input to Poll QnAs

IMHO - Moderators should run the Poll and perhaps send feeback to Peter.
Dave.

I think we all know what has been happening, a trend was evolving towards tougher and tougher A League contests which Vankwish was quite correct to comment on to make us all stop and think. Any one who wishes to play short and straightforward contests was being pushed to one side.

The A League contests need to be kept at a moderate level so those with less spare time have a chance to take part.

We just need to get back to making normal levels for the A League. I thought I had made a fairly simple level for this contest as it is fairly easy to solve, but to get a good score it is very time consuming because of the number of Dillos'. We can't get it right all the time but it would be a good idea to try and restrict the number of Dillos to one in the A League or two (as Votart suggested) for the same portal. I would not like to see these laid down as hard and fast rules as the level design has to be up to the host and some multi Dillo levels can be made quite easy.

I think we all need to be just a bit more carefull with level design for the A League. It is tricky though and I am sure most of us will agree that good level design can be more difficult than winning a contest.

I don't even have a POC for this  Spent my time on B league.

I agree this one is too time consuming for A. Restricting to 1 dillo is not good, I really like the relatively simple "switch" levels for A. I don't think we will be able to come up with any rules for this, it's the host that has to recognize a level as A or B.

Ending this is fine by me as I have some more work on the B level first.

OK new deadline for this contest will be 8/5/10 @ 20.00 GMT

IMO :D Unless any one has a better solution we should not introduce any rules for restricting the level design for A League contests.

We should all just try to keep the A League contests a little easier than of late :D
