Bonus for newcomers is a good idea, maybe give them a bonus until they win there first contest. All hosts (if we all agree) from next contest can add this to the rules and choose how big the bonus will be.

No. On reflection THE BOARD should be aimed at the Level Of Player expected.

As (the unofficial/official) Newbie - I expect to play against like minded/skilled players.

I enjoy seeing my 'creations' trounced by experts - BUT I 'd expect that (the trouncing) to happen only in the 'CHAMP League'

Bonus points for Newbs is NOT a good idea - attracting Newbs to the Newb's Board should be the goal.

I found it too hard to join a Compo in the 1st place - (as you experts know from my posts)!

I've played 'dillo for (well Peter will tell you) but some month's now, and Compo's are NOT easy to find. IMHO they should be made more accessible from the AR launch page.

I must agree the frontpage of this site could use some work.

Since the only action on the forum here is in the contests I think they should be on top. General and Leveldiscussion are hardly ever used. Furthermore we should loose the A and B names. I think the page should be something like this:

The newbie bonus is not ideal but until some more newbies are around I think it is a nice idea to give them a little headstart. I do think we should put up a level in the newbie league. Don't put up an enddate yet, as soon as there are a few competitors an enddate can be chosen.

Some constructive ideas there Rob, I would be happy to change the Board Index but my permissions don't allow me to, apparently it's not all that straightforward. I can only suggest you PM Peter and ask him to make the changes.

Also, if you or anybody else has a nice contest level to put in the beginners league that would be a good idea to get the League started. More than one contest could be put on there with no end date, as you suggested, until there is at least two or three taking part. The contest will obviously have to be restricted to members with less than 20 posts or a number you think would be appropriate. Having the league active may just attract more beginners

I think the best rule is that you can play beginnersleague until you win a medal in normal or expert league.
