AR2_A_353_???

Well, no posts in over a month, now. :(

It looks like the Challenge forum has finally bit the dust after nine years.

It has been a bit of a struggle this past year, and it couldn't continue indefinitely.
Recycling the original challenges into new variants helped with the creativity problem, with such limited competitors, but it was more like life support than breath of fresh air in the end.

Thanks to all for past challenges. This has been a place of fun and learning for me. :armadillo:

Here's hoping the forum remains "open" and challenges "downloadable", for anyone who comes along in the future.
I will open up the "new posts" limits in case new members come along. Enough for ten or twenty posts and PMs, that things can restart, or connect in a new place.
Try to contact a moderator first (bythemod) or maybe me (bythelee) via PM, to restore "normal service".

Yes it is a very sorry day indeed ,this game was massive for a while and is timeless .Schools and collages should embrace this simulator as it is the best of it's type by a country mile :D .
It has been a good ride though .I wish this is part of a humble bundle some day :D
Thank you bythelee for trying your best to keep it going :D

Hi KuzyaHG,

Yes, I'm still here... Good to see you again.

I check by once in a while (every few weeks), just to see if anyone is still wanting to engage.
Our host seems happy enough to leave the site running, so it's still here, for as long as that continues.

I do still have admin access, and can get involved again, or pass it on.

But, the strain of too few people trying to keep the challenges running, became just too difficult last year.
We had problems all through summer, because if any one person was away, there was no "challenge". Some simple challenges ran for three or four weeks.

Re-using the original AR2 A challenges (with some adjustments and tweaks) allowed everyone to compete, including the host, which kept it going for an extra six months.
But with just the same three competitors every week, it finally died last November.

It might get a re-birth if Peter Stock would release AR2, perhaps on GOG at a sensible (cheap) price.
I don't know what else can be done to restart a regular challenge...

Regards,
Alex.

Hello Votart,

Nice to see another old face. :D

Looks like I'll have to put my "Mega Challenge" back together again, after all.
The one that was meant to be a kind-of "endless" competition.

As soon as RL gives me a break. Things have been busy, lately. :(

If anyone else would like to start something similar, please, by all means, go ahead!

I was just talking about this game with my old teammate... We only managed to win once but we sure did try a lot.
It's a pity the competition is no more. Here's hoping Peter's new game is good!
