I had exactly the same reaction to start with!
Eventually I thought of using a latch (thank you ealier levels for this idea!) so when the armadillo lands in my basket under the rocket, the force of him landing unlatches it. Took a while but I got it eventually.
However the solutions on the main site are much more ingenious!!
